Australis Cruise

We invite you to explore the wonders of the Patagonian fjords with Australis, an expedition cruise company that tours the main attractions of this area and Tierra del Fuego: the Strait of Magellan, the Beagle Channel and Cape Horn.
Sailing from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas (and vice versa) through the Patagonian channels.

Check in between 10:00 and 17:00. Boarding at 6:00 p.m.
We will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay arriving at
Cabo de Hornos National Park, where we will disembark if the
climatic conditions allow it. In the afternoon we will disembark
in Wulaia Bay, a historic site that was one of the settlements
largest of the native Yámanas canoeists.
In the morning we will sail through the Northwest arm of the channel
Beagle to enter and disembark at Pia Fjord. We will perform
an excursion to the viewpoint from where you can see the
homonymous glacier, whose main tongue extends from above
from the mountain range to the sea. During the afternoon we will enter
to the Garibaldi Fjord, for a walk through the cold jungle
Patagonian, climbing to the base of a waterfall of glacial origin.
In the morning we will navigate the Cockburn channel to enter
in the bosom of Agostini, where it will be possible to appreciate the glaciers
that descend from the center of the Darwin mountain range, reaching
some of them to the sea. During the morning, we will disembark
in Zodiac boats for a gentle walk around a
lagoon formed by the melting of the Águila glacier, until the
which we will come to be face to face. In the afternoon we will do a
navigation in Zodiacs boats to get closer to the Condor glacier.
First thing in the morning, weather conditions permitting,
We will disembark on Magdalena Island. During our walk
towards the lighthouse we will be able to appreciate a colony of 120,000 penguins of
Magellan. In September and April this excursion is replaced by
a landing on Marta Island where you can see sea lions
South Americans from the Zodiac boats. Finally you reach Punta
Arenas, disembarking at 11:30 am.

Australis Cruises are Expedition Cruises that sail through the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel, exploring one of the most beautiful and virgin regions in the world such as Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, in the extreme south of the American continent.

With alternative programs of 3 or 4 nights, from September to April, Australis Cruises set sail from the Chilean city of Punta Arenas and from the Argentine city of Ushuaia , in Tierra del Fuego.

The Australis Cruise Route

The cruise departs from Punta Arenas in Chile or Ushuaia in Argentina and sails through the Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel, offering passengers the opportunity to discover some of the most impressive and remote landscapes in the world.

The journey takes place through canals, bays, fjords and glaciers, snow-capped mountains, islands and forests of incomparable beauty never before explored.

You will be able to see penguins, elephant seals and sea lions.

And the imposing glaciers Serrano, D’Agostini, Águila, Pia, Garibaldi among others, will witness your steps, forever engraving their majesty in your memory.

Can you visit Cape Horn?

The idea is always that you can visit Cape Horn but sometimes the weather does not allow it.
Everything will depend on the weather and the state of the sea. In general, out of 10 visits, 6 manage to go down to Cape Horn, the rest of the trips are seen from the Boat.

And remember that every day you can enjoy shore excursions where the Australis Cruise guides will teach you about the flora and fauna of the area, as well as the history of the first inhabitants of Patagonia.

And in addition to the sailing experience itself, the Australis Cruise also offers a unique opportunity to learn about the history of the region. On board, passengers can attend talks and lectures about Darwin’s expedition in the region and the culture of the indigenous people who have inhabited this area for centuries.

In short, this will be one of your most pleasant and unforgettable experiences aboard Australis Cruises.

Because it has the exact duration

The Australis cruise is also a very interesting cruise because 4 nights of travel is the exact duration to be on board (in my opinion)

When you start to get a little tired of being on the boat you have to get off 🙂

What are the ships: the Stella Australis and the Ventus Australis

The cruise has two ships: the Stella Australis and the Ventus Australis, both with a capacity for 210 passengers each. These boats are designed to provide a luxurious experience while sailing through some of the most spectacular landscapes of Chilean and Argentine Patagonia.

Same cabins: Choosing a cabin is very easy!

All cabins on the boat are the same and have the same amenities.

The only thing that changes is the deck on which they are located, the boats have 3 floors, the most expensive cabins correspond to the highest floors of the boat.

What is an exploration cruise?

This is what this type of cruise is called. It is not a Luxury cruise and it is not an Extreme Adventure cruise (Antarctica)

It is something intermediate, where you will enjoy a smooth ride, the boat moves little for the area it covers and you will always be well served by the crew (Buffet and Open Bar)

Border crossing with Australis: From Argentina to Chile and vice versa

Let’s not forget that the ship also makes a logistical transfer between two points in Argentina and Chile.

In short, the Australis Cruise is a unique experience for those looking to explore the natural beauty of Chilean and Argentine Patagonia while enjoying a luxury experience.

With its combination of outdoor activities, local cuisine and the opportunity to learn about the history of the region, the Australis Cruise is an unforgettable trip worth taking.
